The Mission & Ministry Summit is Returning to Evansville, IN

General Baptist Ministries and the Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau are pleased to announce the return of the General Association of General Baptists to Evansville for the 2017 Mission & Ministry summit, General Baptists’ international convention.

“General Baptists are excited to return to Evansville for our 2017 Mission & Ministry Summit! Southern Indiana is the birthplace of the General Baptist movement. Our founding church, Howell General Baptist Church led by pastor Terry Gamblin, in Evansville, Indiana, is still active and worshippers attend there each and every weekend.” - Clint Cook, Executive Director

General Baptist Ministries is pleased to announce the appointment by Executive Director Clint Cook of a three-man team to oversee the ministry of National Missions throughout 2014. These experienced church planters (Carl Nichols, Brandon Petty and Vince Daniel) will “develop a holistic approach to church planting that includes assessment, funding, and coaching/training” while they also “recruit, train, and develop church planters to launch successful new church plants.”

This most recent appointment now completes interim arrangements for both International Missions and National Missions made necessary by the resignation/retirement of previous directors.

Tuesday, July 16, 2013 was historic in the life of the General Association of General Baptists (GAGB). During the 2013 Mission & Ministry Summit in session in Tampa, Florida, Rev. Clint Cook was installed as their new Executive Director.

Rev. Cook is the Lead Pastor of Real Life Church in Springfield, Illinois. Originally started in 1974 as a National Missions church plant, Real Life has grown under Rev. Cook’s leadership to a congregation of over 600 attendees while also becoming one of the largest contributors to the General Baptist Unified Giving program.

Building on the continued success of the Next Level Coaching Network, several 90 minute intensive workshops were featured during the General Baptist national convention, the Mission & Ministry Summit, held July 15-17 in Tampa, Florida.

The Next Level Intensives were designed to introduce the network to new General Baptist leaders who had not heard of the network or may not have been able to attend previous network meetings. Several areas of church growth were addressed including worship training, assimilation strategies, staffing, missions, and best practices based on “if I had only known...” from several leaders who have already worked through the challenges.

During the annual convention of General Baptists, the Mission & Ministry Summit, participants celebrated the combined relief efforts for the Philippine Typhoon Pablo totaling more than $250,000. On December 4, 2012 Typhoon Pablo devastated a large part of the Island of Mindanao.

General Baptist International Missions (GBIM) Director Sean Warren reported over $239,000 in cash and nearly $15,000 in donations of building materials, clothing, and cleaning supplies were sent to the relief efforts in the Philippines. In addition, 2,065 patients were treated by an M1 Medical Team sent by GBIM to aid with health issues in the effected areas.
